ABOUT DRIVING SLEEVES

Like many people of my generation, I spent as much time as possible out in the sun when I was young: the beach, tennis, golf, boating. Back in the 60’s we didn’t worry about sunburn, we were all working on that tan.

Then, in my early 40’s I paid the price. My doctor spotted something on my skin and sent me to the dermatologist who confirmed that it was a basal cell carcinoma; easily treated, but definitely a warning sign. “No more sun tan for you, my boy. Hat, shirt, and sunscreen when you go out to play.”

But what if I just had to drive somewhere for 30 minutes? More often than not, the sun was beating down on my arms. I used sunscreen sometimes, but what a pain in the &*#^% ! If it was too hot for a long sleeve shirt, I tried draping a towel over my arms, but that was pretty awkward and not very effective. Then one day it suddenly came to me and after some trial and error experimentation, the DRIVING SLEEVE was born.

So, whether or not you’ve had your first skin cancer scare, now is the time to start protecting yourself. Do they look funny? Maybe, but you’re in the car. Are they a sensible and convenient precaution against a potential health hazard? Absolutely!

One more word of caution: although DRIVING SLEEVES are made of a tightly woven cotton twill, no fabric provides 100% protection against UV rays. If you have pale skin or you are especially susceptible to sunburn you should consider applying another layer of protection to your arms in the form of liquid sunscreen, if you anticipate being exposed for a long period of time, such as an all day drive.

Play it safe. Order your DRIVING SLEEVES today!
